From the Nliven admin home page, click on the "Events" tab in the left-hand navigation menu. Select “Event Templates”. Find the Event Template you would like to create Packages for. Click the "Edit Template" button on the right-hand side of the Event Template name. Select the "Pricing" tab and choose the "Packages" option.
Packages: are a way to sell tickets together with inventory such as drinks or meals. Each item that is purchased as a package, with seats, is built as a separate Event Template with its own assigned events.
Top Tip : Packages work by incorporating TWO event templates. Each Package requires a main show Event Template (parent template) and a Package Event Template. The reason for this second Event Template is to have the functionality to issue a second ticket for the Package.
The steps to creating a Package are:
1. Create your MAIN EVENT TEMPLATE then create a Package Promo on the main/parent Template.
2. Create a PACKAGE EVENT TEMPLATE then create a Promo on your Package event template.
3. Create a PACKAGE on the MAIN EVENT TEMPLATE linking the two together.

Create a Package Event Template
Create a PACKAGE Event Template: This will allow you to link a Package to a Main Event/Show.
-
Event Type and Title: The Package Event name will be displayed on the Package ticket. Give the Package Event Template a name that corresponds to the associated Event Template.
-
Venue and Venue Config: Choose a General Admission Venue Configuration for the package Event Template, not the Venue Configuration for the main show. Note: Contact the Ticketing Services department if you need a GA Venue Config loaded into a Venue on your Account.
-
Event Code: This is the event URL code.
-
Delivery Plan: Select the Delivery Plan method.
-
General Admission Mode: Toggle on (blue) when creating the Package Event Template. This will ensure that the Package item name is utilized on the Package ticket rather than section, row, and seat information.
Top Tips :
-
Each additional Package item that should be purchased along with seats will need to be built as a separate Event Template with its own events. At least one Package Event must exist for each corresponding Event date that offers packages on the "parent"/inventory Event Template. For example, if two Events, one at 7pm and one at 9:30pm, exist on the main/parent Event Template for one date, at least one Event must be built on that date on the Package item Event Template. When the Package is being sold, the system will look for the closest Package Event date/time to the parent Event date/time, as long as the Package Event is still on sale.
-
Each Event Template involved in the Package (the main/parent Event Template and any additional Package items Event Templates) will need to have a corresponding Promo built, which will control inventory, pricing, fees, and applicable Events; further details are provided in Create/Edit Promos in an Event Template page. The main/parent Event Template Promo should only include ticket pricing, ticket fees, etc., and the Package Event Template Promo should only include Package item pricing, Package item fees, etc.
-
Each individual Package Price Level, with its own unique price, will need to have its own corresponding Promo (for example, if there is a Package for category A with one price and a Package for category C with another price, two separate Promos will need to be built under the same Event Templates/Package. Alternatively, if a Package can be purchased for category A OR C and the Package price is the same for both, only one Promo is required.
Contact the Ticketing Services department for further details or guidance.
Price Level & Promo Creation
-
Main/Parent Event Template
-
Price Level Creation: “Must be sold as part of package" should be checked in a Price Level if the Price Level should not be offered for sale without the Package (further details provided in Create Price Levels in an Event Template page); if there should be a choice between buying just the ticket and buying the Package, this box should remain unchecked (further described in "Packages in the Buying Experience" section below).
-
Promo Creation: If there are limits on Price Level or Events that can be sold as part of a Package, this can be accomplished by choosing a limit type of Price Level on the Promo and only including the Price levels and Events that should be available in the Promo Rules.
-
- Package Event Template
- Package Price Levels created on the Package template should represent the items that will be packaged along with seats on the main/parent Event Template (for example, Drink, Meal, Program, etc). The Price Level name (the Package name) will be displayed on the Package ticket as described above.
-
Package Promos should be created for each item you plan to package along with seats on the main/parent Event Template.
-
Top Tip
: If the Package item should come across with a price of $0, pricing type “Comp” should be utilized in the Promo Rule.
-
Package Configuration
On the main/parent Event template, click "+ New Package" and enter the fields below.
Package Name: For internal use only
Package Display Name: This will appear to the customer throughout the buying experience.
Description: This will appear to the customer throughout the buying experience under “Display Name”.
Promotion: Select the Promo name being used on the main/parent Event Template.
If you need to issue a second ticket for the Package, you need to add items in the included items section below by clicking "+Add Item".
INCLUDED ITEMS:
- Item 1 will populate. Add as many additional items to include in the Package as necessary on the main/parent Event Template.
- Top Tip
: Each item added to one Package will be included in the Package. Each individual Package item in one Package must have its own Event Template. Multiple packages, however, can be created using one Package Event Template with multiple corresponding items' Package item Promos.
- Source Template: Select Package item Event Template.
- Promotion: Select the corresponding Promo to be used for Package item pricing.
Once all fields are configured, click the blue "Create Package" button at the bottom of the page.
Packages in the Buying Experience
-
Any seat/Price Level that is eligible for a Package will have a star icon over it on the customer tickets page and the “Sell Tickets” tab.
-
You can also use the price legend in the top right-hand corner of the page to isolate seats eligible for Packages by clicking "Package".
Note: If multiple packages are configured for the same price level, the most inexpensive packaged price will appear in the legend.
-
Once a Package seat is selected, you will be presented with the option to select the "Ticket Only" or the Package. The exception to this rule is if "Must be sold as part of package" is checked in the corresponding Price Level on the main/parent Event Template. Details are provided on the Create Price Levels in an Event Template page. Only the Package option will be available, which will be automatically applied.
- Once a Package option is selected, the seat will display on the tickets page with a yellow and black star icon. If you hover over the seat, the selected Package name and ticket price will display.
- Additional seats can be purchased individually or as a Package before clicking the blue "Buy Tickets" button at the bottom of the screen.
Fees Breakout
This will display Fees configured on both the main/parent and package Event Templates. If a Fees is configured on each Event Template with the same "Grouped Display Name", that Fee on all Event Templates will be combined on the same line. Further details are provided on the Create Fee Sets/Fees in an Event Template page.
Find Best Seats
If a customer chooses this functionality, Price Levels that offer Package options will display a green "Package" flag. Once a Price Level is chosen, the customer will be presented with the standard choice between the ticket only and the Package option, unless "Must be sold as part of package" is checked for the Price Level.
Additional Package Information
-
In the "Details" tab of a Nliven order (further details provided in the Orders & Customers page), the Package name will be included in the order details for each ticket.
-
If the "PrintAtHome" delivery method is chosen, a PDF ticket will be generated for each seat ticket, as well as each "Package" item. For example, an order for two Package tickets (inclusive of one Package item) will include four tickets, two Event seat tickets and two Package item tickets.
