Promos: are any form of revised ticket pricing. A Promo code can be used to assign pricing and fees to tickets or provide access to inventory. Every Promo needs one or many rules, which include pricing type, Fee Set, and applicable Events. For detailed instructions on configuring Promos and Promo Rules, visit the Create/Edit Promos in an Event Template page.
Since most API Partners/distributors/OTAs are only able to utilize pricing based on Price Levels, it is best to create dedicated Partner Price Table(s) with their specific pricing. That way, when price changes are made to the existing pricing, this will not affect the Partner especially if pricing differs.
Note: Price Types and Tags are not utilized via the API at this time.
Once Partner Price Table(s) are created, the Partner’s Promo can then be built.
When naming the Promo, be sure to add the Partner’s name then the name of the offer being given to the Partner. Please see below example.
Select Limit Type of Price Level
Make sure to check the API box under “Available at These Sales Channels”
Once the Promo Rule is created, best practice is to name the Promo Rule something that indicates which events the Rule applies to, such as the year, specific months/dates, or performances.
When selecting the Pricing Type, make sure to select the Price Table created earlier for that specific Partner’s pricing.
If not already completed, please ensure that the Partner and the Partner’s User Group are created in Account Settings. Then save the new Promo Code in the Partner’s User Group. This will grant the Partner access to that Promotion.
